Last updated on DECEMBER 06, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 11.1.1.2.0 to 11.1.1.5.0 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When starting any Managed Server associated to WebCenter (Example WLS_Services) from the command-line using the following command:

startManagedWebLogic.cmd <Managed_Server> "http://<HOST>:<PORT>"
Example:
startManagedWebLogic.cmd WLS_Services "http://<HOST>:<PORT>"

The following output is seen in the console:

<Jul 8, 2010 3:32:36 PM CDT> <Error> <com.jivesoftware.base.JiveGlobals> <BEA-000000> <Error - the specified jiveHome directory does not exist (E:\oracle\MIDDLE~1\USER_P~1\domains\SPACES~1\config\fmwconfig\servers\AdminServer\owc_discussions_11.1.1.2.0)>
<Jul 8, 2010 3:32:36 PM CDT> <Error> <com.jivesoftware.base.JiveGlobals> <BEA-000000> <XML properties file does not exist: E:\oracle\MIDDLE~1\USER_P~1\domains\SPACES~1\config\fmwconfig\servers\AdminServer\owc_discussions_11.1.1.2.0\jive_startup.xml
java.io.FileNotFoundException: XML properties file does not exist: E:\oracle\MIDDLE~1\USER_P~1\domains\SPACES~1\config\fmwconfig\servers\AdminServer\owc_discussions_11.1.1.2.0\jive_startup.xml

It is looking for jive_startup.xml underneath the AdminServer directory.

Note:
The same error may be experienced when using the WLS console to start the Managed Server.
