FAQs

Is there a supported procedure for upgrading/migrating previous versions of UCM/URM to 11g?


Yes. There is an "upgrade assistant" that will help migrate data from a v10g UCM/URM server to a v11g UCM/URM server. All versions previous to 10g will have to be upgraded to 10g first, using the Migration guide, Archiver, CMU, URM export/import etc.

Is there 11G versions of the 10G Adapters?

At the time when this note was created, only the 11g adapter for UCM 11G has been released. This Adapter is bundled/shipped with the 11G ECM/UCM Release.

The current 10g Adapters that are supported with URM 11gR1 are listed on the following OTN download site for URM:

Will the UCM 10G Adapter on a UCM 10G instance work with URM 11G?

No. When working with UCM adapter, all versions must be in in sync. This means only a 11G UCM instance with the 11G UCM adapter can connect to a URM 11G instance.

 

Can URM 11G be enabled after UCM 11G has been deployed?

The Full URM deployment cannot be enabled after the initial install of UCM 11G has been completed. But, a limited version of Records Management can be enabled directly from UCM 11G.

Where is the native Records Management enabled from on UCM 11G?

Its is in Administration > Configure Record Settings
Then select one of the following: None, Standalone, Adapter.

If URM is already enabled and RM install settings needs to be changed, then navigate to:
Records > Configure > Enabled Features.

What is the difference between the full URM deployment and the RM that can be configured directly from UCM 11G?

The Records Manager, which can be configured directly from UCM 11G, does not have Physical Content Manager capabilities. If these features are desired, the full URM 11G deployment will need to be configured at the initial install.

Additionally, a full URM install with PCM will have the banner "Oracle Universal Records Manager" persisting on the top left header of every content server web site page. While the UCM configured for URM will still have the banner as "Oracle Content Server".


Is the URM CS Adapter deployed at installation or enabled after UCM 11G has been deployed?


The URM CS Adapter is can be enabled after UCM 11G has been deployed. The CS Adapter is enabled from the same page as RM.

Is it possible to disable the RM feature (Not full URM) or CS Adapter on  UCM 11G?


Yes, Please navigate to Records > Configure > Enabled Features. Then select "none" under the Records Management Install Settings section and submit to save the changes. You will need to restart the server and rebuild the index. All of RM including RM related metadata fields should be hidden and disabled. If there are any RM fields left, they can be disabled from configuration manager.


Is it possible to disable the full URM 11G from UCM 11G?

No, Once URM 11G is specified at the initial install, it can not be made a core UCM 11G again. The URM 11G instance will need to be removed or uninstalled, and then a new instance of UCM 11G will need to be installed and configured.

 

What ECM products are supported with URM 11G (if installed on the same instance)?

Only the ECM products that are licensed under URM are supported for URM. Please refer to the following licensing information for more detail.

What ECM products are supported with the RM that is configured natively from UCM 11G? (if installed on the same instance)?

Since this is not the full URM installation, but one that is configured natively from UCM 11G, compatibility support between RM configured UCM 11G and other ECM products are limited by the customer's product licensing agreement. For example, if there is an issue with Site Studio 11G and UCM-RM 11G compatibility, support for this issue will require the that the customer submitting this issue to Oracle Support, have purchased the ECM suite of 11G products which would contain UCM, URM, IPM, etc.

Where is the list of URM metadata field definitions for URM Check in field, PCM fields, security fields, etc. located?
