Unable to Assign a Variable Value in ODI when its Value Contains Double-Quotes (Doc ID 1189085.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 15, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Data Integrator - Version 10.1.3.5.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Trying to capture the Session error message into an Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Variable of "Text" type, using, for example, the following statement in the "Refreshing" tab:

select '<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("MESSAGE")%>'
from dual

In a Package, we first refresh the Variable, then call a child Scenario, with OdiStartScen command, where the above Variable is passed to the Scenario as follows:

OdiStartScen ... "<PROJECT>.<VARIABLE>=#<PROJECT>.<VARIABLE>"

or

OdiStartScen ... "<PROJECT>.<VARIABLE>='#<PROJECT>.<VARIABLE>'" << notice the usage of single quotes (') around the Variable value

The Package execution fails, and following message is signaled when calling the OdiStartScen tool:
