WCI Analytics Jobs Fail to Run Due to an Unknown Host Error Regarding the Database Connection

(Doc ID 1191375.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 02, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Analytics - Version 10.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
***Checked for relevance on 27-Sep-2013***

Please also reference KB Article 1124292.1 as the problem discussed in that article is very similar to this one, and has the same root cause.

When attempting to run any Analytics job, the job fails. Looking at a verbose PTSpy output will show the following error where <SERVER NAME> is the name of the database server:

com.plumtree.jdbc.base.BaseSQLException: [plumtree][Oracle JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket. Unknown host: <SERVER NAME>

The Analytics jobs will all show this error, even though troubleshooting shows that the database is resolvable via DNS.
