AD to OID 10g Bootstrap Fails For Entries With Forward Slash In The CN With Bootstrap.log Error: [LDAP: error code 32 - No Such Object]

Symptoms
Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 10g (10.1.2 or 10.1.4).
When performing Active Directory (AD) to OID Directory Integration Platform (DIP) Import integration, bootstrap fails when the CN (RDN) contains a frontslash / forward slash ("/").
Bootstrap.log shows the following error on the entries with the slash:
ERROR: [Tue Aug 17 13:14:08 CDT 2010] Writer Thread - 0 - Error occurred while loading - cn=<LASTNAME FIRSTNAME/ XXX>,cn=users,dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com
