This article walks through an upgrade of the Avitek Medical Records application from WebLogic Server 9.2 MP3 to WebLogic Server 10.3.3 (a component of Fusion Middleware 11g R1 PS2). The upgrade process is documented in the Oracle Fusion Middleware Upgrade Guide for Oracle WebLogic Server 11g Release 1 (10.3.3). This article describes a simplified step-by-step upgrade, and is not intended to replace the documentation.
This upgrade is on a Linux x86 32-bit system, but upgrading on another O/S should be similar, though the screens would look somewhat different.
This example upgrades the Avitek Medical Records application, which is provided as a sample application with installations of Oracle WebLogic Server. This application includes connections to a database (here Oracle 11g), JMS servers using file system and JDBC persistence, and EJBs. There are several EAR files included: the main EAR file medrec.ear and some secondary EAR files for the physician application, the admin application, and a browser start application.
