Symptoms

There is a table named "exp_dates" that contains a column named "exp_date" whose datatype is 'date'. The 'exp_date' column contains two date values "25-DEC-09" and "25-DEC-10". When the following query is run in SQL Developer Worksheet :

select exp_date, to_char(exp_date, 'DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') exp_date1
from exp_dates

the following incorrect result is obtained :

EXP_DATE        EXP_DATE1
--------------- -------------------
25-DEC-10       25-12-2009 00:00:00
25-DEC-10       25-12-2010 00:00:00

However, when the same query is run in SQL*Plus using the same command, the following correct result is obtained :

EXP_DATE        EXP_DATE1
--------------- -------------------
25-DEC-09       25-12-2009 00:00:00
25-DEC-10       25-12-2010 00:00:00
