Goal

Why Compression?

If you have clients connecting to your server with relatively slow connections like Modem or VPN from remote locations, it makes sense to compress the content that is being downloaded to the client.  This increases the load on the server, but gets compensated by the client experience.  There are multiple methods for compressing the content.  The method used in this note is the mod_deflate module from Apache.
