How To Disable In-process Reports Server And To Make A Standalone Reports Server The Default One in 11g (Doc ID 1250118.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 08, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Reports Developer - Version 11.1.1.1.0 to 11.1.2.2.0 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Previous versions of Reports (e.g. 10gR2) came with an In-process Reports Server as part of the OC4J_BI_Forms by default.
In Reports 11g, the installation configures an In-process Reports Server as well as a Standalone Reports Server by default.
The "default" Reports Server is the In-process Reports Server.
In other words, if a report request is to be run via rwservlet and no Reports Server name is explicitly set (i.e. no server=Reports-Server-name) in the rwservlet command URL, the report request will be assigned to the "default" Reports Server - which is the In-process Reports Server - to be processed.

The purpose of this document is to explain how to disable the In-process Reports Server, and how to make an existing Standalone Reports Server the "default" Reports Server in Reports 11g.
