"Protocol Violation" Message Signaled When Connecting To Oracle Database With JDBC From ODI (Doc ID 1261724.1)

Symptoms

When using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), the connection to an Oracle database fails, and the following message is shown when the THIN flavor of the JDBC driver is used:

java.sql.SQLException: Protocol violation
