How to Increase the Amount of Memory Available to Business Process Analysis (BPA) Architect 11g

Goal

Describe how to increase the amount of JVM memory available to BPA Architect in 11g.

This may be desirable for example if you are opening large models with a large number of objects in Architect and they do not always open successfully.  Where in this case you may see the following messages in the respective Architect logfiles:
