You are developing composite applications for deployment to the SOA runtime environment within an Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g installation and have created a stored procedure in a database schema that you intend to be invoked by an instance of the Database Adapter component.

At design time, when using JDeveloper to define an instance of the Database Adapter based on the stored procedure, you encounter an error at "Step 5 of 7: Specify Stored Procedure" of the Database Adapter wizard. When you reach that stage, where you use the "Browse..." option to identify and select stored procedures defined in a procedure, then after selecting the desired procedure in a pop-up window you encounter the following error when returning to the database adapter wizard:

An error occurred while retrieving stored procedures.
Verify that the Database Connection is valid.

This issue is specific to using the Database Adapter to invoke stored procedures against an Oracle Database server where the call to the stored procedure contains a set of parameters that includes both a REF CURSOR and a user defined PL/SQL type (such as a PL/SQL record type).

The issue does not reproduce when the target database is an Oracle 11g Database Server, only when the target is an XE, 10.2 or 9.2 version of the Database Server product.
