Symptoms
When attempting to view a subscribed Group Space Announcement RSS Feed, the following error occurs.
From Internet Explorer 7:
Internet Explorer was unable to update this feed and will try again later
From IE 8:
Internet Explorer is unable to update this password-protected feed. Authentication forbidden.
From Outlook:
Outlook cannot process the RSS content from 'http://server:port/rss/rssservlet?...'. The link may not point to a valid RSS source.
Steps to reproduce:
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps with Internet Explorer:
- Create a group space and enable the announcements service.
- Enable the Announcements page.
- Go to the Announcement page.
- Add some announcements.
- Click on the RSS icon.
- Subscribe to the Announcements in Internet Explorer 7 or 8.
This initial subscription should work. - Add a new announcement.
- Close the browser and access the subscribed RSS Announcements Feed using Internet Explorer 7 or 8.
Here you should get the error.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps with Outlook:
- Create a group space and enable the announcements service.
- Enable the Announcements page.
- Go to the Announcement page.
- Add some announcements.
- Click on the RSS icon.
- Copy the Announcements URL.
- Open Outlook.
- Go to the RSS Feeds Folder.
- Right Click the RSS Feed Folder and select "Add a New RSS Feed...".
- Provide the URL of the Announcements RSS Feed.
Here it shows the error.
