How Wwctx_sso.Cleanup_sessions Job Works Within Oracle Portal (Doc ID 1269597.1)

Goal

Sometime the application server locks up when the cleanup session job is running at the same time as users use the system. Also the shared database environment is getting a lot of CPU load when the 'wwctx_sso.cleanup_sessions' job defined on dba_jobs table,  is running at daytime.
If the content of the related PORTAL.WWCTX_SSO_SESSION$ table is deleted usually every 30 min (that was at least how it was configured earlier) why is this information stored in a table?
