Can Not Restart An Opmn Managed Component. Opmnctl Status Shows Its Status As Stop. (Doc ID 1273430.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 09, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Middleware - Version: and later   [Release: AS10g and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

A managed opmn process can not be stopped / restarted by opmn. The opmnctl status command show the process in "Stop" status but can not be stopped/restarted:

$opmnctl status
Processes in Instance: myinstance.myhost.mydomain
ias-component      | process-type         | pid   | status
OC4J               | OC4J_BI_Forms        | 7510  | Alive
OC4J               | home                 | 2028  | Stop

$opmnctl stopproc process-type=home
--> Process (pid=2028)
time out while waiting for a managed process to stop

When checking with ps -ef | grep <pid> the process, it corresponds to a process not managed by opmn, and eventually not owned even by the same UNIX owner of the Application Server / Fusion Middleware installation.
