Using mimetype in cgicmd.dat File to Open Reports in MS Excel Does Not Work (Doc ID 1274784.1)

Last updated on APRIL 05, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Reports Developer - Version 10.1.2.0.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Using the following cgicmd entry in $ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/cgicmd.dat file and trying to run the report from Rwservlet it prompts to search the web for the correct application to open the Report output instead of firing MS Excel.
Example
cgicmd.dat

<Key_Name>: report=<Report_name.rdf> userid=<user/password>@<Database_Name> desformat=delimiteddata destype=cache paramform=yes mimetype=application/vnd.ms-excel
URL
http://hostname:port/reports/rwservlet?server=<Reports_Server_name>&cmdkey=<Key_Name>
Running the full URL without using cgicmd entry as follows it works.
http://hostname:port/reports/rwservlet?server=<Reports_Server_name>&report=<Report_Name.rdf>&userid=<user/password>@<Database_Name>&desformat=delimiteddata&destype=cache+paramform=yes&mimetype=application/vnd.ms-excel
