Web Application Error Page ("form-error-page") Does Not Display On Internet Explorer. (Doc ID 1275161.1)

Last updated on MARCH 18, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle JDeveloper - Version 11.1.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

You developed an ADF Faces application using ADF Security.
You defined the form-login-page and form-error-page parameters in your web.xml to display an html type login page and a specific error page:

<login-config>
   <auth-method>FORM</auth-method>
   <form-login-config>
      <form-login-page>/<LOGIN_PAGE>.html</form-login-page>
      <form-error-page>/<ERROR_PAGE>.html</form-error-page>
   </form-login-config>
</login-config>

The expected behavior is that the error page specified in form-error-page displays when the end-user connects with wrong credentials.
It works as expected in all the browsers but in Internet Explorer.

In Internet Explorer, an ADF Faces application fails to render the Web Application error page after the end user tries to connect with an invalid username/password.
Instead, IE shows the following error:

The website declined to show this webpage
HTTP 403
Most likely causes:

This website requires you to log in.
