Flex Fields used within the BPM Worklist are not searchable (Doc ID 1275208.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 24, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle(R) BPEL Process Manager 10g - Version 10.1.3.5.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The Flex Fields from TEXTATTRIBUTE11 to TEXTATTRIBUTE20 used within the Oracle BPM Worklist are not searchable, despite what is mentioned in the following documentation:

Oracle® Fusion Middleware Developer's Guide for Oracle SOA Suite
11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
Part Number E10224-05
Chapter 30.10 Using Flex Fields
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_worklist.htm#SOASE85326

30.10 Using Flex Fields
"... They can be used for a keyword-based search ... All text and number flex fields are automatically included in the keyword-based search..."

and the javadoc of oracle.bpel.services.workflow.query.Interface ITaskQueryService

keywords - an optional search string.

To reproduce this issue, map a value from the payload to TEXTATTRIBUTE1 and another to TEXTATTRIBUTE11. Then create a task and search for it in the default worklist provided with SOA 11g. Search for TEXTATTRIBUTE1. This will return a result, while a search for TEXTATTRIBUTE11 will not.
