Sun Studio 10 And Earlier Report A License Error (Doc ID 1277790.1)

Forte Developer 7 up to Sun Studio 10 fail with a licensing error.

Error message from Forte Developer 7:

"", license error: Notice: The 60-day trial serial number has expired.
In order to purchase the product, visit
or contact your Forte Tools reseller.

"cc -xlicinfo" shows that a trial serial number was installed, and has expired:

# cc -xlicinfo
Number of serial numbers found: 1
Total RTUs available: 0
License file used:
License tokens accepted by this product: FDT070

 Serial Number (SN):    FDT070-M99BDISNU-035609398
 Is SN valid?:          no
 RTUs:                  1
 Is trial SN?:          yes
 Days until expiration: <already expired>

 Expiration date:       08/16/10

dbx reports that no valid serial number has been installed:

dbx: fatal error: This product cannot find a valid serial number.


The problem shows up only if during installation a trial serial number was generated, either by using the batch installer, or by selecting "Trial Serial Number" in the installer:

Select "Trial Serial Number" to generate an trial serial number. This serial
number will expire in 60 days.

Please write down this serial number for later reference.
