After SSL Configuration, SSO 10g Login Button/Page Fails With: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage (Doc ID 1288894.1)

Symptoms

Oracle Single Sign-On (SSO) 10g worked fine prior to SSL configuration.

Followed steps in the Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On Administrator’s Guide 10g under "Enabling SSL."

The initial index page renders ok, i.e.:
https://myhost.mycompany.com:4443/sso/pages/index.jsp

However, clicking the Login button/link (top right) shows:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage


The following pages also render ok, but Login link returns the same above error:
https://myhost.mycompany.com:4443/pls/orasso
https://myhost.mycompany.com:4443/oiddas

Or the SSO and OIDDAS pages above logins work ok, but midtier logins fail with above error.
