Java Process Fails with Internal Error: 'guarantee(index < GCTaskTimeStampEntries,"increase GCTaskTimeStampEntries")' (Doc ID 1289749.1)

Symptoms

The Java process aborts unexpectedly, leaving behind an 'hs_err_pid.log' file that contains the following error message:

Error: guarantee(index < GCTaskTimeStampEntries,"increase GCTaskTimeStampEntries")

# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (17.1-b03 mixed mode linux-amd64 )



Changes

No special garbage collection (GC) algorithm was selected using runtime options.

The flag '-XX:+PrintGCTaskTimeStamps' was set, in order to monitor GC activity.
