Assertion Failed "User <username> Does Not Have Access To The Administrator Port" (Doc ID 1291678.1)

Symptoms

Some users from Active Directory belong to an AD group. The admin global role is assigned to this group. When these users click on the system status portlet in the console to the check server state or when they try to stop servers via the console, they receive the below Assertion failed error:

These users are able to log in and perform administrative tasks such as deployment or creation of servers. The default admin user weblogic has no problem and the admin port is enabled in the domain.
