A search done against a DSEE backend with server side sort requested results in notes=U

This will show in the logs as something like the below.   Key portion is the "SORT" shown below.

[14/Feb/2011:15:29:39 -0800] conn=27 op=0 msgId=1 - SRCH base="dc=example,dc=com" scope=2 filter="(cn=*bc*)" attrs="l"
[14/Feb/2011:15:29:39 -0800] conn=27 op=0 msgId=1 -  SORT l (4)
[14/Feb/2011:15:29:39 -0800] conn=27 op=0 msgId=1 - RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=4 etime=0 notes=U
[14/Feb/2011:15:29:39 -0800] conn=27 op=1 msgId=2 - UNBIND
