WebLogic Server: Managed Servers Get Started On Wrong Machines With FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE Error Through NodeManager
(Doc ID 1299088.1)
Last updated on AUGUST 05, 2024
Applies to:
Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 9.1 to 10.3.3Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
After a reboot, the Node Manager starts the managed servers.
The managed servers get started but on the wrong machines.
A managed server may be set 'FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE', even though it is actually running on its host.
Then, when you begin maintenance on this host, and stop and later restart the Node Manager there, it cannot restart the server because it is marked 'FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE'.
Each one is expected to have its own Node manager process, its own NM home, its own NM configuration files.
The main point is that the domain directory is mounted on a shared file system.
This means that more that one Node Manager may be monitoring the shared directory from different machines.
