Deployment Considerations for ODSEE Administration Using the Directory Server Control Center (DSCC) (Doc ID 1299821.1)

Last updated on APRIL 28, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

This document provides a overview of the "Directory Server Control Center", and includes a high level description of components and their interaction.

The goal is to augment reader understanding for effective deployment of the DSCC.  Users reading this document should come away with an understanding of the components and how they work together for Directory Server (DS) and Directory Proxy Server (DPS) instance creation and administration via the DSCC.

This document is not a replacement to the deployment or installation guide discussion of the DSCC. Administrators will need to review the additional documentation around DSCC deployment and administration listed in the "References" section below.

Note: Mention of CACAO in this doc is specific to 11.1.1.3.x / 11.1.1.5.x deployments. DSCC 11.1.1.7.x uses the DSCC Agent instead of using CACAO.
Other than CACAO references, this KM doc applies to ODSEE versions 11.1.1.7.x, especially the info about "warm spare" / High Availability (HA) / Unsupported Replication of the DSCC Registry (cn=dscc).

Scope

The intended audience is anyone who is going to work with the directory server that will be responsible for setup and configuration, as well as management of the DS or DPS.

Note that Identity Synchronization for Windows is not managed within the DSCC and requires the 5.2 Java administration console.
