WLS Web Application: Error page configuration (Doc ID 1300770.1)

Symptoms

Using error-page tags to configure custom error pages for specific error codes in the 'web.xml', causes a problem where the custom error page isn't loaded properly.

For example after configuring the error page as below,


and on trying to access the URL
http://<hostname>:<port>/Webapp/invalidjspname.jsp
we find that it doesn't redirect to error.html as per the configuration.
