Last updated on NOVEMBER 10, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 1.0.0.0.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to call out the versions of Oracle Applications that can take advantage of Oracle Exalogic. Oracle Exalogic is an engineered system that is highly optimized and pre-configured to run multi-tier application workloads. Most Oracle Applications are based on a multi-tier architecture and can therefore benefit from Exalogic.

This document is not meant in any way to replace or supplant the Oracle Documentation set for Exalogic or the Oracle Documentation for any of the applications listed below, but rather, it is meant as a supplement to the Oracle Documentation. It is still imperative that the Oracle Documentation be read and understood, and Oracle documentation should be referenced to provide answers to any questions that may not be clearly answered within this document.

Additionally, as every customer environment is unique, the success of any Oracle implementation, including implementations involving Exalogic, and its component technologies, is predicated upon a successful deployment environment. Therefore any recommendations from this document should be carefully reviewed by the relevant Operations Groups, and should only be implemented if the potential gain as measured against the associated risk warrants. Risk assessments can only be made with a detailed knowledge of the system, application, and business environments that comprise each deployment scenario. It is imperative that any recommendations that come from this document are thoroughly tested and validated using a suitable testing environment that is a reasonable replica of the target production environment before being implemented in a production environment to ensure that there is no negative impact associated with the recommendations that are made.

The Exalogic architecture was developed from the ground up, employing scale-out principles at multiple layers – operating system, Java Virtual Machine, Networking, Storage and integrated flash technology. It is beyond the scope of this document to address detailed configuration requirements for any of these layers, including their configuration, or to evaluate system performance and operational infrastructure requirements associated with sustaining operations or disaster recovery.

Scope

The intended audience for this document is anyone planning to install and run Oracle Applications on Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Hardware and Software.
