Inclusion Of Plus Sign In Ldap Dn (Doc ID 1304632.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 03, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version: 6.3 SP1 and later   [Release: 6.0 and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

When we try to add a new entry that the dn contains a '+' sign, we get an error.

  ERROR<5895> - Schema - conn=142347 op=6 msgId=8 - User error: Entry "test_attribute=abcd+1234,dc=xxx,dc=xxx" single-valued attribute "test_attribute" has multiple values

We are wondering if there is a way to force the directory to accept the plus sign or if that is against the rfc spec. We have found that if we escape the plus sign in the dn but not in the value of the attribute, that works. So it appears to be only an issue when a plus sign is found in the dn.
