ODSEE - Inclusion of Plus Sign (+) in ldap DN (Doc ID 1304632.1)

Last updated on JULY 24, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 6.3 SP1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When trying to add a new entry where the dn contains a '+' sign, an error is observed.

  ERROR<5895> - Schema - conn=142347 op=6 msgId=8 - User error: Entry "test_attribute=abcd+1234,dc=example,dc=com" single-valued attribute "test_attribute" has multiple values

Is a way to force the directory to accept the plus sign or is this against the RFC specifications.  It was discovered that if the plus sign is escaped in the DN but not in the value of the attribute, then it works. So it appears to be only an issue when a plus sign is found in the DN.
