Polling FTP Adapter Does Not Pickup Files Even When A Valid File Is On The FTP Server (Doc ID 1306155.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 08, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle(R) BPEL Process Manager - Version: and later   [Release: and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Using a 10g SOA polling FTP adapter that does not use the option "Delete files after successful retrieval" from the Adapter Wizard - it is noticed that after a SOA server start the FTP adapter works fine at getting and processing files, but after some time it is noticed that new files put on the FTP server are not picked up by the adapter.

There may be absolutely no errors shown in the logfiles.  In order to get the FTP adapter working again the BPEL or ESB process must be turned off or deactivated then turned back on.

By choosing not to "Delete files after successful retrieval" the FTP adapter must look at the time stamp for each file on the server and determine if it should be processed or not.  So it is possible that there are several hundred files existing on the FTP server for the adapter to process.
