Last updated on MARCH 13, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Directory - Version 10.1.4.3.0 to 10.1.4.3 [Release 10gR3]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 10.1.4.3.0 with latest merge patch.

OVD JVM keeps crashing; it cannot handle high production loads.

The crash is also creating a large core file.

Tried Solution 1 from:

<Note 465627.1> Heavy Load OVD Application Returns "Critical error while performing SEARCH java.lang.OutOfMemoryError"

But even after increasing the JVM memory to 3 gigs, memory consumption keeps increasing.

Solution 2 is not feasible for large production environment.

Also already using latest 1.6 java version, i.e., jdk1.6.0_17, as shown in the vde_start.sh.
