Sun Schema Runtime Environment (SRE) - Version 5.0.5u2 and later
IBM AIX on POWER Systems (32-bit)
***Checked for relevance on 09-Feb-2015***

When running Schema Runtime Environment (SRE) 5.0.5 U2 on AIX6, eWays will not start when their maximum heap size is set to a large size, eg: -Xmx536870912 (512MB) or -Xmx1073741824 (1GB).

There is sufficient physical memory on the machine, and the memory ulimit is set appropriately.

The eWay log file shows an "Insufficient resources (memory)" error :-

03:19:16.090 COL T 1 (jvm.cxx:1506): JCS: Attempt to instantiate a Java VM ...
03:19:16.101 COL T 1 (jvm.cxx:1511): JCS: Is JVM version > 1 ? : true
03:19:16.191 COL D 1 (jvm.cxx:1529): Creating JVM returned : 0 Error 0
03:19:16.200 COL A 1 (jvm.cxx:1543): JCS: Couldn't instantiate the Java VM using libjvm.a
03:19:16.207 COL A 1 (jvm.cxx:1546): JCS: The Java VM failed to start. Possible problems include:

Incorrect JVM shared library
03:19:16.214 COL T 1 (jvm.cxx:1598): JVMCreateFailed E:0x20002000 (internal system)

The eWay .stderr file contains a "Failed to instantiate heap" error :-
