Discussion Forum Unavailable after Logging in with SAML SSO (Doc ID 1313670.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 20, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 11.1.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Discussion, WebCenter Spaces and WebCenter Wiki is configured for SAML SSO. OID is used for authentication.

When trying to access http://<host>:<services_port>/owc_discussions after logging in then an error is thrown.
The Discussion works fine before logging in.
Accessing the Admin interface of Discussions at http://<host>:<services_port>/owc_discussions/admin works fine even after logging in.

Steps to reproduce
==================
1. Access http://<host>:<services_port>/owc_discussions
Notice the discussion page appears fine

2. Click on Login
Notice it goes to SSO Login page

3. Provide credentials

4. You get a NullPointerException

5. In the same session open WebCenter and notice that the user is actually logged in, so it means the SSO login was successful, only the user has no access for some reason to Discussion itself.

All users reproduce the problem including newly created users in OID. The owc_discussions_samlsso.ear has been deployed as expected.

The Jive system property
owc_discussions.sso.mode
was set to true as expected.

The authenticators of the realm in the domain have been configured as per the documentation, OIDAuthenticator is on top and the DefaultAuthenticator is below, both set to sufficient.

Use Retrieved User Name as Principal was Checked for the OIDAuthenticator.
