Web Services Definition Language (WSDL) Message Fails with sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed (Doc ID 1317683.1)

Symptoms

A WebLogic Managed Server which is configured with Demo Identity and Demo Trust is making outbound web service calls over HTTPS. The certificates from the web services are imported into the WebLogic Server Demo Trust. We can observe an entry in the server logs that the Demo Trust and cacerts are getting loaded, however when the Web Services Definition Language (WSDL) message is passed, the following error comes up:
