After Patching to PS3 or Higher OPatch lsinventory in Oracle_Common Home Still shows 11.1.1.2 (Doc ID 1322066.1)

Goal

After patching from 11.1.1.2 to 11.1.1.4 (PS3) (applies to higher versions as well), running opatch lsinventory against the oracle_common Oracle Home still shows version 11.1.1.2

For example:

Setting ORACLE_HOME=MID_HOME/oracle_common
and navigating into MID_HOME/oracle_common/OPatch/

Running the following opatch command generates the following:

opatch lsinventory

Invoking OPatch 11.1.0.8.2

Oracle Interim Patch Installer version 11.1.0.8.2

Oracle Home : /a01/oraweb/middle/oracle_common
Central Inventory : /a01/oraweb/oraInventory

OPatch detects the Middleware Home as "/a01/oraweb/middle"
