You are using Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 and have developing a composite application that uses a Technology Adapter, such as the File or FTP adapter, in conjunction with the Native Format Builder to read a file containing a fixed length format and convert it to XML.

When the file contains special characters with accents, for example French characters such as "é" , then if the File or FTP Adapter is used to again write out the XML created from the input file, when you view the resulting file you see that special characters within the input have been translated into different characters -- for example, the "é" has been replaced by "?".
