'Warning: Page has Expired' In Oracle Access Manager 10g (OAM 10.1.4)-Protected Site After Clicking Back Button In Browser

Application access has been protected with Oracle Access Manager 10g (OAM 10.1.4)
OAM SSO login to the application is working.
However if a user clicks the Back button in the browser they get 'Warning: Page has Expired.'
If the WebGate is removed from the application webserver configuration, the problem does not reproduce: the Back button does not cause any error and the previously accessed page is displayed.
Steps to reproduce
1. Access the application using a browser.
2. When prompted, submit valid OAM credentials.
3. The application page is displayed. Navigate around the application.
4. At any point, click the Back button. Error 'Warning: Page has Expired.' or 'Web Page Expired' is displayed.
