Symptoms
When attempting to run a report and a DB instance in a non-related machine is shutdown, the reports server fails with an unexpected error:
Per showjobs URL:
http://<HOST>:<PORT>/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=<repserver_name>
Terminated with error:
REP-12518: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
Terminated with error:
REP-12518: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Stop the remote database that is believed to have nothing to do with this Forms/Reports installation and application.
2. Run the report and it displays REP-12518 and ORA-12518.
Changes
A database installed in a completely different environment was shutdown.
