How To Enable keep-alive on Oracle iPlanet Web Proxy Server to Address Application Latency Between The Proxy Server and Origin Server (Doc ID 1335895.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 13, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle iPlanet Web Proxy Server - Version 4.0.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Enabling keep-alive to help resolve problems with application latency reported after the Oracle iPlanet 4.0.3 Proxy server configured in secure reverse proxy mode has been introduced to the deployment. In this case the http-client-config keep-alive was disabled and needed to be re-enabled.

Example Topology:

Internet -> FW -> F5 -> Oracle Iplanet Web Proxy Server -> FW -> Routers -> Microsoft IIS (origin server hosting the web application).

Prior to introducing the secure reverse Proxy Server to the deployment the application was not experiencing delays or resets to the origin server and accessing the application internally results in no delays.
