Applying 10.1.x Patchset Fails on Partition Greater than 2 Terabytes

Symptoms
When the 10.1.x Patchset is run on a partition greater than 2 Terabytes, it fails checking the disk space. When the Oracle Home Name is entered and the Next button is clicked, the following message immediately pops up on the screen:
STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Launch the OUI to apply the 10.1.x patchset using ./runInstaller
2. Enter the Oracle Home and Oracle Home Name and click Next.
3. The message, "Alert: There is not enough disk space available for Oracle Home '<oracle_home>' to continue with installation. Please make at least 13MB of space available and retry." appears.
4. The Oracle Home (/u01) has more than 2 Terabytes of space.
Changes
The 10.1.x is installed on a partition which is greater than 2 terabytes.
