Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

In some cases, you may want to use Oracle Text Search (OTS) as the search collection with WebCenter Content (WCC) 11g, but you do not have an Oracle 11g database that you can use for this purpose.

This note describes how you can use OTS in an Oracle Secure Enterprise Search (SES) database by setting it up as an external database for the WCC search collection.  This is ideal for customers who want to use OTS but are running with something other than an Oracle 11g database, such as:

A restricted-use license of SES is now included to use with WCC 11g.

Note: This is a restricted-use license. SES is to be installed and run on the same processor(s) that run the content management repository (Content Server) and may be used to index and search the local instance of the content management repository. Federation to external servers or other data resources is not permitted in this restricted-use license. A full use license must be purchased for this use case, and the SES Crawler component is still available for this case.

Note: SES 11g must be used. SES 10g will not work for this configuration.
