LoginExceptions from Custom Security Providers not handled correctly

Information in this document applies to any platform.
In Weblogic 10.3.5 with the configurations below, the expected behavior is -
- Two authentication providers, namely, WebLogic Default Authenticator and Custom Authenticator
- Upon authentication failure, CustomLoginException is thrown
- The control flag of Custom Authenticator is set to SUFFICIENT
However, in runtime, FailedLoginException is thrown, upon authentication failure above.
