WebLogic Server Process Becomes Zombie and Retains Resources in RedHat 4.7 and 4.8 (Doc ID 1350893.1)

Last updated on JUNE 14, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 6.1 to 10.3.6
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

WebLogic Server becomes non responsive when trying to communicate with database, but network resources (e.g., DB connections) are not released in this status.

The WebLogic process becomes zombie and unresponsive to the signals -3, -6 , -11 or -9.
The result is that we cannot produce thread dumps or other status information, because kill -3,-6,-11 and -9 do not work.

Unkillable zombie thread occurs when a thread in epoll has a signal 1 delivered, followed by a signal 9.
