Symptoms

When XHTML is used as the preset render format in the LaF skeleton.xml file as follows:

<render-format>
  <preset>XHTML_1_0_TRANSITIONAL</preset>
</render-format>
...
</search-path>
<script src="buttons.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="util.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
...


Then the final HTML output renders the script tags as:


The script tag without a closing tag can cause incomplete rendering of pages in certain browsers such as IE7.
