Weblogic Managed Server Running OSB Shows Large and Unbounded Growth to Diagnostic Files (WLS_DIAGNOSTICSnnnnn.DAT) (Doc ID 1369748.1)

Last updated on MAY 15, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Service Bus - Version 10.3.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

You are using Oracle Service Bus 10g or 11g and over time are experiencing unbound growth to the WebLogic Server  Diagnostic Datastore (${DOMAIN_HOME}/servers/<OSB_SERVER>/data/store/diagnostics/WLS_DIAGNOSTICS000000.DAT) for the managed server where OSB is running.

Over of time the size and number of .DAT files below the location ${DOMAIN_HOME}/servers/<OSB_SERVER>/data/store/diagnostics continues to grow, such that the disk space utilized by these files has to be monitored closely to and manual actions taken to prevent the file system from running out of space.

Since the data being collected in the .DAT files is captured by the WebLogic Server Diagnostic Framework, you have followed steps outlined in the following support note:

<NOTE:864869.1>
WebLogic Server (WLS) Diagnostic File Size Keeps Growing and Not Shrinking

However, despite having followed recommendations from above note the .DAT files in the diagnostics sub-directory continue to grow past the size you elected to constrain them to.
