Portal - Version 3.0.9 to 3.0.9.8.5 [Release 9iAS]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Purpose
This document explains how to configure Oracle Portal with SSL and Global Server Certificates.
Note 137136.1 How to Configure Oracle HTTP Server to Use SSL with Global Server Certificates in AS 1.0.2.2, explains how to set up Oracle HTTP Server with Global Certificates, however Portal will not work with that configuration due to the way Portal requests the certificates. This note provides the steps
to get Portal working with Global Server Certificates.
Please note this technique only applies to earlier 3.0.9.x versions of AS Portal.
This is an SSL feature, called variously "step-up", "server gated crypto" or "global server ID". "Step-up".
For AS Portal Version 10.1.2.0.0 and above:
Support for Global Server Id is now default in later versions of Oracle AS Portal (10.1.2 and above)
Thus no special additional actions are required to implement these type of certificates compared to standard server certificates.
See: 11.3.1 Global Server ID Support
