Symptoms

An application which has EJBs is configured with the DataSourceUserManager

<user-manager class="com.evermind.sql.DataSourceUserManager">
    <property name="dataSource" value="jdbc/XELocalDS" />
    <property name="table" value="j2ee_users" />
    <property name="usernameField" value="username" />
    <property name="passwordField" value="password" />
    <property name="groupMembershipTableName" value="j2ee_usergroup" />
    <property name="groupMembershipGroupFieldName" value="groupname" />
    <property name="groupMembershipUserNameFieldName" value="username" />
</user-manager>

but any attempt to access/call/lookup an EJB in it from an EJB client fails with:

javax.naming.AuthenticationException: Not authorized; nested exception is:
    javax.naming.AuthenticationException: Not authorized)
  javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: Not authorized; nested exception is:
