Are In-Flight Processes and Long Running Instances Supported in a SOA 11g Upgrade? (Doc ID 1373629.1)

Last updated on APRIL 23, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle(R) BPEL Process Manager - Version 11.1.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Does the SOA Suite support in-flight processes and long running instances when updating?
For example, if using SOA 11.1.1.3 which has long running instances, some in-flight instances may be "running" state for several months.

If this installation is upgraded to 11.1.1.5 by patching it as per http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e16793/patch_set_installer.htm#CHDCCEAC , the following questions arise:
  1. Will the inflight instances also migrate to 11.1.1.5?
  2. Will the state of the running instances be maintained?
  3. Will they continue to wait for callbacks once the upgrade is complete?
