Symptoms
You applied <Patch 11823679> which fixes multiple Windows 7 and Microsoft Word issues. However, now you able to eventually download a document, (after multiple pop-up messages) but it is in Read-Only mode.
In the end, the document opens in MS Word, but in Read-Only mode. The test was performed on a Windows 7 PC, using IE 8, and MS Office 2007.
