UCP Delay in Processing ONS Events During Data Guard or RAC Failover Using FCF (Doc ID 1380527.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 09, 2023

Applies to:

Universal Connection Pool - Version 11.2.0.1.0 and later
JDBC - Version 11.2.0.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The Universal Pool (UCP) may experience delays in processing the FAN events received via the ONS resulting from a DataGuard or RAC failure ( simulated by a kernel panic scenario).  As a result, this may impact the recovery time, as the UCP is not promptly closing the invalid connections.

The UCP is configured with a JDBC/thin driver and is using the Fast Connection Failover ( FCF).

It was verified using ONS logging and JDBC logging that the FAN events have been sent. However there is a delay of several minutes between the sending of the events by the ONS and the receiving of these events by the JDBC driver.
