Change Password Using WLST Command nmGenBootStartupProps (Doc ID 1381232.1)

Symptoms

We are trying to change the password for the user "weblogic," which is used to start or stop the servers, in a scripted environment where we may have multiple domains with many servers. To change the password of the user "weblogic," we want to write a script that is used to change the password across all of these domains. Once the password of the user "weblogic" is changed, the next step is to change the username and password in boot.properties in all the relevant directories. We can use the WLST command "nmGenBootStartupProps" for the same: see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13813/reference.htm#i1243959. As per the document, nmGenBootStartupProps should generate boot.properties and startup.properties files in the DOMAIN_HOME/servers/<server_name>/data/nodemanager directory. But it does not generate any files in the DOMAIN_HOME/servers/<server_name>/data/nodemanager directory and the managed server fails to start with the following exception:
